I know i did! about a month ago I went to Rocky Point with friends, it was really fun! & this past weekend I went with my parents and sister!
I guess they were jealous I got to go and they hadnt been there before :P I dont know. it turned out to be a really fun trip. I love the time i get to spend with my family, now that ive been moved out for a while.
So we went spent the first two days at the beach almost the entire day. I had a shrimp cocktail each day we were there. And we rode on jet skis, which was amazing! Scary and so much fun! I love the beach.

I used my moleskine this time
using a red pencil i found in my bag.
& during the car ride home I drew my dad! black ball point pen.
During the car ride over there, i read an interview with David Choe in Giant Robot Issue #50.
has anyone read it? I found and inspiring tib bit, where he talks about the last illegal thing he had done.
He says he tags every hotel room he stays in. painting a character in the paintings they have, or moving a couch or something, and drawing something behind it. :D

My bird has made a couple other appearances:
Bird on the floor of a shop in Tempe. There's graffiti stuff every where, there! pretty cool.
and it started from here: I think. the drawing of the girl with a bird on her shoulder (available as a sticker!)

I was at Conspire some Sundays ago for a meeting. Chuck B. from Spraygraphic was snapping some pictures. there over here. They are all of Conspire! (spending lots of time there recently, and I have some art there for sale! yay!). I found one with me in it at the end! hehe so, its a must-share-in-blog type of thing. I guess.
I enjoy finding things like this.

so I'm checking out a myspace bulletin from Conspire, in it is a First Friday Highlights Video. It shows some neat stuff..
and if you keep watching long enough or skip to a certain time (4 minutes & 35 seconds) you get to see my art! I had no idea! :D awesome!

i bought a plant the other day.. I think its still alive.
here is the view through a gallery called 'eyelounge'
it was closed so i didnt get to get a close look at the art.
but notice my flier in the corner there in the window sil! i was excited to see it (cus i didnt put them there)!

| What I Did Today |

++++ Painted this much:
I'm still working on defining the face to look like what I want it to. painting in black and white is fun.
I think when i finish this, i will post progress pictures together.. I mostly always take pictures of paintings as i work on it, different stages and stuff. But i dont seem to share them much. Its always interesting to see people's process.
++++ I also drew in my sketchbook. -no picture of that. I would write more about art related stuff i did today.. but im so tired i just cant. after 9 or 10pm i started feeling really hungry and then light headed. then tired. I guess maybe i really didnt eat enough. Dont worry, I usually eat a lot.

does anyone remember when i posted a 'tilt' (Things I love Thursday) entry a while ago, i said I may start a series of entries about helpful information and things I find out about life.. or something similar.
I have been learning so much about life. perhaps I will share some of it.

Yesterday I got to see Barack Obama! he came to ASU to give a commencement speech. it was really great. His speech was really good & inspiring. :)
I got a video of alll the people that were there..and how many flashes were going off when he came out.

this is some of the artwork I picked out for my show at conspire. I set it up last night..it took me nearly 2 hours! But I think it looks good.. I'll show you pictures of that by tomorow! :D
oh excitement! i'm going to have a closing reception for it on the third Friday of May. it should turn into a little party. I'm getting flyers printed, updated with that info. that is the night that everyone should come out! and come out tonight also..cus its First Friday and there are tons of people out and booths of stuff.

| My Days |

so most every day recently.. I wake up late, it wouldn't matter, and I dont think I'm a morning person I'd rather sleep in.. But I wish I was a morning person, I like being up early. Recently I just give in to the warm cozyness of my bed in my dark bedroom in the mornings..
So I get up and I feel still sleepy, probably from sleeping too much.
after browsing stuff, checking mail, eating. I sit in my stool in front of my easel.
and I 'work' all day long.
I stop every once in a while, to check my mail or to change what I am listening too. or to get water or snack on something, or look up reference.. or to stare at my painting.. or to do other things i get distracted with.
anyway.. every so often I also get up from my stool.. and move one foot to my right, and sit in my resting chair. Which faces my work space. My view, when I sit there is this:
* I just wanted to randomly share what I do all day long some days. I guess its what I was thinking about. Even though that isn't really my entire day.
I want to move on to something else I was thinking.
that I should begin gessoing canvases before I paint on them.. so that it is not as textured as the image on the left, below.
its not very fun to paint on that.
I started this painting some weeks ago, its almost finished too. I just didn't feel like working on the ^other paitning anymore.
More and more, I try to make better and better paintings, and I'm tryiing to teach myself for 'advanced' oil painting techniques, like glazing.
with that painting though, its becoming hard to work on in that way, because I did not begin it that way.
Concidering going to art school. For many reasons. But one, is just so that I learn how to paint properly! and so that I don't have to think so much of how to paint.. but just be able to paint what I want.
was that a rant? Probably too short, and not angry enough to be a rant. but either way: Rant over. :P

sorry for not saying that i was gonna be gone from the blog a bit. but now i'm here blogging because of it! so it worked out..
I made it to San Fransisco! :D
at the hotel room the night we arrived.
I love it here so much. I love walking everywhere, the people. and the weather right now.. I love it too. what i dont love so much is that I'm not very accustomed to walking so much.. poor feet,shins, and back.
I'm not gonna share much about my trip yet though, I'll do that when I get back.
Its only Tuesday! each day, I am excited that the week has just begun. and once the end of the week comes I think I will have lots of fun things to do! it is perfect.
here is some bar-drawing action! I never really draw people in public places, I get overly self conscious sometimes, but these guys are my friends..so it was cool. it turns out, I love drawing people while they are not aware. I love seeing these in other people's sketchbooks too.

I'm going to San Fransisco in about a week.. I'll be staying for a week.
I'm wondering if any of you rad people out there, have any suggestions!
-places to visit,
-things to do
-places to eat?
-coffee shops
-places to shop? though I won't have too much money..
-any interesting things?
-any one been to sf, ..what did you do?
please PLEASE tell me? it would be so cool.
I've just looked up a few nearby galleries so far. I plan to do more researching, and any extra info I can get will be really helpful.
I'm gonna mostly be exploring the city alone, I'm driving over there with some friends but they will be at a game convention most of the time. I just couldn't let the opportunity pass..even if it means going solo :P I even bought a SF city Moleskine!

finally got some Giclee prints done. One was a 16X20in print of Diane Fights The Urge.. the other was a small 8.5X11in print of In The Waiting Room.
Ai, my old school.. was having a call for entries for a Student and Alumni Art Show..and I got my prints back just in time for me to frame them and drop them off. I only submitted Diane. And didn't think anything of it other than, 'cool I submitted on time'
 
So on friday, during the artwalk.. I was suuper excited to find out that it had sold! that it was the first piece to sell.. and that, as Hanna said..people were flocking to it, and as David, the buyer said, he had to rush to get the someone to put the sold sticker on it! hehe :D
The Ai show went on as part of Art Detour..which happens here with the First Friday thing, once a year I think... So on saturday I went back to do more artwalk selling of my art, made some extra moolah.. slept through Sunday's artwalk selling thing. and later met up to exchange money for painting with the buyer.
Also..on saturday while at my booth, I got a really great offer.. Its not confirmed yet, so i will not share what it was yet.. But that was also something to be excited about, I went on and celebrated that night. Kind of.
anyway. good weekend!
I will be making more giclee prints. stay tuned for that if you are interested.. The In The Waiting Room print..might appear in my etsy shop, if it doesn't sell elsewhere.

before each first friday, first i must print, cut, frame, or file everything in its place. kitty just watches.

It was so awesome to go down the slopes.. so fun! I dont have too many other good pictures of me skiiing, I dont think I photograph well.
We also watched Coraline in 3d ..it was really good! Afterwards we took a picture in our 3d glasses.

This is my dad, he loves to fish. I painted this from a photo of him..Where he showed off a cat fish he caught.
I tried to stylize it a bit. I made it as a christmas present to him.. I really loved how it turned out, and it does resemble him.
it is oil on wood and measures about 4X6 inches. |
