I guess I have a studio, my living room. in my tiny house.

| My Wall & New Painting Started. |

here's my wall, I thought it was looking kinda cool so i took a picture.
the plaque is gonna be for another new painting. I have a show July 3rd! at Waldoism in downtown phoenix. :)
and here is a closeup of my unicorn stuffed animal painting, in progress.
Im beginning to form a new theme, children and stuffed animals.. along with other subjects.
1 hour or so spend on this so far.

Hi there :) here to share what I'm up to today.
I moved my easel to my room to paint today, and I'm back to painting after what feels like weeks and weeks.
I'm gonna try to update more of my progress each day or so. as a sort of motivation.
and I'm still working on making a drawing everyday. I'm so forgetful.. ..or have difficulties building habbits.

sorry my blog has become so boring lately! I can't say that ive been really busy or anything.. ive just been working on some art. trying to become a better painter. Im working on a bigger sized painting (18X24"). it's turning out good so far, its another that i started around last christmas, i left it lying around while i worked on other 'easier' smaller things i think.
here is how its looking:

not the best picture, but this is my current work area..And actually it really seems to work out.
Ive be trying out different painting set-ups.
First i painted standing, but that got really tiring. I think then I did sitting (on a chair). But I didnt have a chair that was comfortable enough, and it took up too much space in my tiny bedroom. and for smallish paintings, i always lean towards trying to paint on my desk, but that gets really messy/cluttered, since i have my computer here, and drawing tablet..and a printer..and all sorts of other junk. I can never arrange things well enough. and Ive tried painting on the floor..in different areas of my room.. And they all felt different/weird/worse than others.
Anyway, now I feel comfortable with the spot I've picked ..and it works well enough. I think today I was more determined in my painting though, more than I have been in a long time..and thats because of many reasons..
One is, I finally remembered again, that I must paint from pictures! I keep thinking that I'm a really good painter already..and want to forget about trying to learn from pictures and then just paint from my head.. but that turns out to be really hard to do..because i'm trying to figure out the pose...and the colors and the shadows...and changing my mind..
So now I'm back to focusing on learning. I feel that I make things be really complicated in my head..when really it is so simple.
Here's a close up of what Im working on. Ive worked on it for I think 2 and half hours or so.
I need to aim for more like 4 or 5 hours of painting a day. Or else I will never get better!
(And time seems to go by slow when painting.. I'll feel like I've painted forever when its only been an hour!) |
